Grade and Drain Supervisor
Responsible for providing direct in-field supervision of crew working on all phases of experience with water, sanitary and storm sewer.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and is responsible for safety, scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, supervising, and assisting with cost control, ensuring the consistent and fair application of all company policies and procedures.
- Supervise functional construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
- Assist project team in scheduling, developing, and implementing project work plans and procedures, working documents and standards to ensure projects goals are achieved.
- Identify, verify, and report any scheduling conflicts, needs, or deficiencies with other crews and subcontractors to the appropriate persons.
- Understand and communicate safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance in all areas of safety, while identifying the needs of crew safety training.
- Assess competency and capability of employees on the project and evaluate the capabilities of the crew members.
- Recognize and address issue/problems that may arise among crew members and provide effective resolutions.
Education
- 3 plus years of experience supervising the installation of pipe on civil construction projects.
- 7 plus years of heavy civil construction experience. Familiarity with generally accepted construction specifications, means, and methods is required.
- 30-hour OSHA or equal and confined space training.
- Experience and familiarity with heavy machinery, basic survey equipment, and other industry standard equipment required.
- Knowledge of all cutting equipment to cut various types of piping materials and extensive experience using cutting instruments and laser levels.
- Knowledge of all types of construction equipment. Experience efficiently and safely operating a wheel loader, excavator, dozer, backhoe, and other construction equipment.
Skills and Specifications
- Strong communication and collaboration skills. Experience working in a team environment.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, shop drawings, and specification required.

General Laborer
The Laborer is responsible for completing construction projects as assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Foreman and team members to ensure construction projects are completed to specifications and in a timely manner.
- Carry out construction projects such as building and setting concrete forms, pouring, mixing and finishing concrete in a professional manner.
- Unload and load construction materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be flexible and willing to learn and use new skills.
Skills and Specifications:
- One year construction experience required.
- Willing to work long hours if necessary.

Heavy Equipment Operator
Responsible for safely operating heavy equipment for site grading, roadway construction, and underground utilities. Excel is seeking experienced heavy equipment operators (dozer, excavator, high-lift and backhoe) to join our grading and utilities division.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment on jobsite.
- Daily maintenance.
- Perform duties responsibly and proficiently, following all company safety guidelines.
Skills and Specifications
- Operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency.
- Knowledge of basic maintenance of operating equipment.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

CDL Tri-Axle Dump Truck Driver
Class A or B CDL Truck Driver is responsible for operating dump truck pick up and delivery of aggregates, asphalt, sand, and rock to construction sites. Must be able to operate a vehicle and comply with all Department of Transportation, state and local regulations. Adhere to company safety policies. Be able to complete logbooks, vehicle inspections and site condition reports. Responsible for cleaning the bed of truck and cab.
Skills and Specifications:
- 1 to 2 years documented CDL dump truck driving experience.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to drive a manual transmission.
- Knowledge of DOT and CDL regulations.
- Must be able to climb, bend, kneel to get in/out of truck without issue.

Concrete Foreman
Responsible for providing direct in-field supervision of crew working on all phases of installing and removal of smoothing and finishing concrete surfaces. The Concrete Foreman is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under their direction and control. Concrete Foreman is the front-line safety officer for the site/project and is responsible for the safety of their crew.
Job Responsibilities:

The concrete finisher is responsible for detailed, quality, and safety in completing their job. They ‘re responsible for smoothing and finishing concrete surfaces to complete construction projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs work to the standards established for the trade.
- Reads and interprets plans, schematics, and drawings. Performs work according to the specifics required in these documents.
- Effectively and safely uses the right trade tools for the projects assigned.
- Utilizes tools and research required by trade to accomplish quality and timely work assignments.
- Continuously investigates methods and means to improve the cost effectiveness and quality of work within the trade.
- Provides guidance to unskilled labor to ensure safety and professional project completion.
- Analyzes projects working closely with the Concrete Forman in identifying potential issues that may arise prior to quoting and project take-off.
- Works closely with other trades where projects require simultaneous and overlapping trade work.

Pipe Layer
We are looking for an experienced pipe layer to join our construction crew. As a pipe layer, you will be responsible for assessing the ground conditions, digging trenches, assembling pipes, and laying pipes in accordance with city ordinates. You may also be required to remove old piping systems, seal joins, and install auxiliary lines.
To ensure success as a pipe layer, you should have good working knowledge of pipe fitting techniques and excellent physical fitness. A skilled pipe layer should be able to select, place, and seal pipes quickly and efficiently without impeding the progress of the construction crew.
Pipe Layer Responsibilities:
- Measuring and configuring pipe routes.
- Gathering material and installation tools.
- Digging trenches using hand and machine trenching tools.
- Removing old or broken piping systems.
- Laying pipes into trenches and applying pipe spacers.
- Checking pipe alignment
- Sealing exposed pipe joints and fittings.
- Filling and sealing pipe trenches.
Pipe Layer Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a pipe layer.
- Detailed knowledge of construction and pipe fitting techniques.
- Knowledge of sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains.
- Experience with machine-operated trenching tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and city maps.
